Designer quality at an affordable price
Renting should be the smart way to wear a designer gown, not a luxury in itself. Lichée Bridal keeps an edited rail of high-quality designer gowns and prices rentals at $500 to $1,200, so you can wear the dress you love for less than many Bay Area boutiques charge.
What sets the price within that range
Two gowns can look similar on a hanger and rent at opposite ends of the range. The difference is almost always in how the dress is made.
- The designer and collection the gown comes from.
- Construction and detail — hand-applied lace, beading and structured bodices take far more work than a clean satin column.
- Fabric — heavier satins, silk and layered tulle sit higher in the range.
What's included
Alterations are free: our in-house tailor fits your rented gown to you — hem, bustle, straps, bodice — at no extra cost, over fittings timed to your wedding date.
The rental fee covers your use of the dress for the agreed rental period, and standard cleaning afterwards — you don't clean it before returning it. In fact, please don't: washing, dry-cleaning or ironing a rented gown yourself isn't allowed, so the dress stays in the condition the next bride expects.
Your gown and any accessories listed on your order (a veil or petticoat, for example) are photographed or noted at pickup and again at return, and you can review that record with us.
The retainer, rental fee and deposit, step by step
Payments are made by Zelle, in this order:
- Booking retainer — paid when you sign the rental agreement. It reserves the dress for your date and may be applied toward the rental fee. It's non-refundable if you cancel.
- Rental fee — paid in full before pickup. The price you're quoted already includes any applicable California sales tax.
- Security deposit — paid at pickup. Return the dress on time and we inspect it within 14 days; if there are no chargeable issues, the deposit is refunded within that same 14-day period.
Renting vs buying
Rent when you love a designer look but don't need to keep the gown — there's nothing to store or preserve afterwards. Buy when this is the dress you want to keep. If the gown you want isn't in the studio and your date allows, it can also be ordered in your size.
How to keep the cost predictable
- Book three to six months ahead, so there's time for the rental and any fit adjustments.
- Leave all alterations to our tailor — altering a rented gown yourself isn't permitted.
- Return on time: late returns carry a daily late fee.
- Keep accessories together and return everything listed on your order.
